Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for a marketplace built on trust.

1. About the market

The Black Farmer's Market is a marketplace. Vendors are independent businesses responsible for their own products, descriptions, pricing, licensing, and fulfillment.

2. Shopper accounts

You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for the accuracy of the contact, pickup, and delivery information you give us.

3. Vendor eligibility

Stalls are open to Black owner-operators of farm, food, and maker businesses. Vendors confirm ownership at application and must hold whatever permits their state or county requires.

4. Orders and payments

Payments are processed securely by our payment provider. The market collects a commission on each sale, disclosed to the vendor before they publish.

5. Prohibited items

No alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, unlicensed meat or dairy, counterfeit goods, or products misrepresenting their origin or ingredients.

6. Content you post

Vendors and shoppers keep ownership of their photos and words, and grant the market permission to display them in connection with the marketplace.

7. Suspension

We may suspend or remove a stall that misrepresents ownership, ships unsafe goods, or repeatedly fails to fulfill orders.

8. Vendor commission and fees

Opening a stall is free. There are no monthly, setup, listing, or booth fees. The market keeps a commission of 8% on each sale. The first 50 approved vendors (Founding Vendors) pay 5% on each sale, locked in for as long as their stall stays open. Card processing fees charged by our payment provider (about 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction) are passed through at cost and are never marked up. Each vendor's rate is shown in their vendor dashboard.

9. Changes

We'll post updates to these terms on this page, and notify vendors by email when a change affects selling.
